Fresh Start
Writer's Block? The theme for the February show at the San Francisco Women Artists Gallery is 'Fresh Start'. I took this photo to meet the theme challenge and although I named it "Writer's Block" on my website, I called it Fresh Start for the show. All depends on whether you're in a 'half-full' or 'half-empty' mood I guess. In any case, the juror chose to grant me a Merit Award for it. It's a 15 x 12" print in a black 16 x 20" frame.
My other submission accepted into the show is called "New Day On The Bay" and was shot off the back of my boat one very early December morning. Of course I spent hours stylizing it because that's the kind of art I love to make. This one is 18 x 14" and in a 20 x 28" light wood frame.
The opening reception is Thursday evening from 5:30 to 7pm at the gallery, 3489 Sacramento Street, San Francisco. The show will be up until March 5.
Other new pieces: In the last month I've added two other new works to my website portfolio. Look for Paper Trees and Swimwear under 'Favorite Photos' on my website. Both, a bit of whimsy, were taken early this year when a store window in North Beach caught my eye.
Stillpoint Gallery: I submitted 6 pieces for entry to the Stillpoint Gallery's Online Exhibit, Still Life: Ordinary and Extraordinary. All were accepted and can be seen on page 13. The exhibit will be available online from February 9 to April 19.
I'd love it if you forwarded this to a friend. As this is my first attempt at what I hope to be a monthly newsletter, I'd be grateful to hear any comments and suggestions. And, of course, if you don't want to receive any more, you can unsubscribe below.
