My cousins Shirley and Bill Freeman have just completed a project in memory of her parents, my dear cousins who both died in 2008. Shirley and Bill sponsored a Bright Space in the Bayview Hunters Point area which will open next week. [Bright Spaces is a program of the Bright Horizons Foundation for Children, whose mission is to brighten the lives of children and families in distress.] They asked me to photograph the setting up of the space today and, while I’m not around little kids much, I must say it was really a fun day. There’s a slideshow here that shows all the eager hands putting together (and sometimes playing with) little furniture, a doll house, toy shelves, etc. Plus lots of reading of instructions…. The ribbon cutting ceremony is next Wednesday, after which the slideshow will expand.
