Would you believe it’s now November 13 – a full 5 months from the arrival of the little Perkins. The person who was going to hoist it in was always ‘not finished building the A-Frame’ and despite my pleas, it sat on my dock until today when an ingenious contractor/neighbor agreed to build a frame and get it in. Yesterday was all about building the frame which had to get up to about 10′ and support the 650 pound engine, pulling it across to the 24″ hatch and dropping it down through the salon into the engine room. By 6:30 this evening, the deed was done.
Now that I’ve finally removed all the protective floor coverings (in place since March when the old engine was being removed) and put my furniture back where it belongs, it’s all about waiting for my engine installer to find time to connect everything up. Since it apparently now needs a new transmission, possibly a new prop (yikes!) and lots of hours, it will probably not be a running boat again until Summer. But there WILL be a part 4….
